Meet Our Team of Behavioral Health Experts

Robert “Chris” Pennebaker, PMHNP-BC, LCSW

I have known I wanted to work in the mental health field since I was a teenager and started my mental health career at Palmview Hospital in Lakeland, FL in 1985.  I have never believed you could take money or information with you and my top priority has been to do good service to the people I treat; “people first”.  I have been working with people in therapy and medication management for almost 40 years and still have the same philosophy and passion today.  It is a gift of courage when people come and share their story and willingness to receive help.  I also appreciate the family support that I have received through the years to do this work.  I treat children from 3years old and adults of all ages. My special interests are working with military combat, adult, and child trauma as well as mood and anxiety disorders.  Thank you for choosing this practice to help you through your growth and healing.

Denise Holmes, LCMHC

My experience in professional counseling has expanded over 30 plus years. The opportunities it has given me to learn from my patients have been varied and wonderful. My life has been enriched and broadened for the trust and commitment to living their best life to helping me live mine.

When you decide therapy is for you to have made a commitment to be honest with yourself, and to be responsible not blaming others. That gives you the power and grounding to be creative and a better problem solver. My goal would be to help you get there. To enable rejuvenation, a time to refocus and out of your stuck point to move forward, I use metaphoric anecdotes and self-disclosure (when appropriate) and appropriate questions to assist in creating resolution. Being your best problem solver.

I would like you to find my energy to be genuine as I work with you to identify and capitalize on your personal strengths. In developing better self-awareness can help you put the puzzle pieces together to create your best life.

I personally believe that the adjustments we make in this life can happen, in such a way that will not hinder our growth but empower us to accept change and make the best of it. Divorce, loss of a spouse, child, relocation, general unhappiness and redefining our lives are my particular interests. I have had experience with disabilities and parenting issues as well.

Haley Giles, LCMHC-A

I earned a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. My counseling style is best described as eclectic meaning that no one way of counseling is best for all. I pride myself on creating selective treatment plans and incorporating skills and tools on a client-specific basis and will always put my client’s needs first. I typically see clients aged 25 and older and have seen numerous individuals as well as couples in my experience. I am currently level two trained in Gottman couple’s counseling and am pursuing full certification. The Gottman method implements state-dependent learning, psychoeducation, role-playing, psychodynamic principles, and somatic work to influence and enhance the individual, which influences the overall relationship. I recommend that all clients research the Gottman method to see if it is right for them because the program requires high motivation to produce successful results. If you are interested in learning more about the Gottman method please visit the link provided. (https://www.gottman.com/about/the-gottman-method/)

My areas of interest/specialty include Christianity, couples counseling, anxiety management, divorce, boundaries, organization, grief and loss, and self-esteem. Thank you for taking the time to review my information and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
